Arguably, the fastest growing problem in computing is spyware. Spyware ranges in threat to “adware” (marketting departments around the world are careful to use their own coined name) to outright computer integrity incidents. There’s a good number of things you can do to help against spyware, but the battle is very much like the one waged against viruses - it’s a matter of constant catch-up.

Microsoft recently came out with a beta for anti-spyware software that is painless to install and run - and it’s free. Please use it. There are a number of other anti-spyware programs out there, and any tech-whiz will tell you that you need to use them all to guarrantee the best coverage. But starting with the MS flavor will at least get you started.

It happened again. Some stupid fucking nits decided that they can’t make money any other way than go out and rob a poker game. I know one player who was there and it cost him a good bit. That’s really unfortunate since I know he’s a good player and supplements his income as a regular in a lot of games around town. (more…)

This was an interesting hand I witnessed in a 2-3NL game on Saturday. The action was folded to me in MP and I folded. The player immediately on my left had gotten up but was getting the dealer and myself a drink. The asked the dealer to hold the action for him since I didn’t think it was right that his miss a hand doing her and I a favor. (more…)
