Bang Stick.

Over the past weekend, I took my good ole mum to the shooting range. We had a lot of fun and I gave her the basics of weapon handling and shooting. Most of the shooting was with my little Taurus .380 auto, which is just this side of acceptable if you plan on shooting at people. Anyone who owns a .40 wouldn’t be caught dead touching it though. Make a move.

This is a hand I played over the weekend online at the 10/20. It’s caused me to think a little harder about when it’s worth it to make a move. Maybe it’ll be interesting to you too. (more…)

In touch with your inner Tommy.

A well-known pro named Tommy Angelo is one of the better contributors to the 2+2 forums and is famous for his unconventional lines of play. But the lack of any limit games in this town is disappointing. (more…)

I’ve been trying a new strategy as a change-up from my normal line. I’ve been much less aggressive and have not been raising pre-flop even if I hold aces unless it’s already been raised before me. This has some pretty nifty psychological effects. It’s easier to not get attached to hands for a couple of reasons: 1) you didn’t raise before the flop and so there’s no reason to feel obligated to take a stab at the pot and 2) the pots are generally much smaller.
I also learned over the weekend that a new 5/10NL game is in action. (more…)
