This weekend was really odd for me watching college football. I sat at my in-laws house watching the UF-UGA game - me a Gator and my in-laws a bunch of Dogs (I mean that in a good way). The first quarter was excellent. Meyer finally chucked his goofy option playbook and was running plays real men do. Chris Leak was lining up under center and throwing the ball down the field, using play-action and mixing in some solid running plays. The offense was ina a great rhythm (more…)

Pocket Rockets!Here’s a quick test, one that some of you have no-doubt heard before. If you have AA in a NL cash game and sit behind a full stack UTG and you push, how many callers do you want?

The answer is simple, you want everyone to call. Some players have the misconception that they only want one or two callers because the chances of getting beaten gets higher when more players call. What they don’t take into account is that the value they get for each caller more than offsets any loss in winning percentage. (more…)

Ben forward a link to me this morning for a site called Poker Chip Tricks. They rate my famous Chip Twirl as a difficulty 3! Ironically, it’s the only trick I can do - I can’t even shuffle.

Your host.Poker is gambling. It’s gambling while taking favorable odds. But it’s absolutely gambling. I’ve done alright money-wise by grinding out a profit at both limit and no-limit cash games. I could certainly do better. Either by increasing my playing time (I play less than 20 hours a week now, mostly less than 15) or improving my game. Both of which I’m making a goal of to work on during the next month. But, there’s another way to get a boost to the bankroll (raise your hands out there those of you that maintain a seperate bankroll for poker) - the MTT. (more…)
