I thought this was an interesting hand.

3-bettor is a LAG but has not 3-bet me at all tonight and has had plenty of chances to do so (if they’re paying attention).

The cold caller is loooooooose, but probably has something reasonable here to call 3-cold but also maybe a pair. The cold caller has also made a habit protecting pots he’s involved in. (more…)

I felt like I played this match pretty well. I only got out of line a couple of times. Some players might even think I played that match fairly passively. I did hit a lot of flops but I felt like I did a decent job of picking off some spots where my opponent was predictable.

This was a drastic contrast to my earlier HU action. I played a random guy for penny-stakes and he was hitting just about everything. It was tough to guage his play accurately other than how he plays strong hands - that’s how much he hit. He was calling down way too much with no pair hands, that I did notice. But it wasn’t enough to beat the cards that were crushing me.

Movie.

There’s a Tuesday night game I play in now and again where we play H.O.R.S.E (Holdem, Omaha, Razz, Stud, Omaha/8 along with some other games). It’s a hell of a lot of fun and I get to learn about poker games I don’t regularly play for very low stakes (all action is 1/2 limit). (more…)

I’m planning on being in Las Vegas with Mank and Wade at the end of April. Coincidentally, Ceasars is hosting a WSOP Circuit Event. I know Chris is entering at least one event and I imagine Wade will as well. If all three of us enter the same event, I’d venture a guess there’ll be some percentage purchases going around. And I’ll end up breaking my don’t play tournies on Fri/Sat rule.

If I can continue my rebound, I’ll also be looking to sit at the 30/60 games. Maybe even the 40/80. We’ll see how that plays out. I have the roll for these games but only barely and there’s always the psychological hump to get over.

Ugh. Well, I was fortunate to win my first match. But 3 out of the remaining 4 matches went to the other team and they clinched a win for the week. Putting up the $300 for entry into the league is pretty much a crap-shoot. I like the players on my team but you never know who has HU experience and is decent at it. There’s always next week.
