Wander with T&A.
Author: Jim
I searched my archives and somehow I was remiss in posting about Teresa and Andrew’s big adventure. A few months ago, they quit their jobs and packed up a truck to spend an extended trip - about a year - on the road across the continent (maybe or maybe not confined to the U.S.).
I’m not exaggerating. If you notice Andrew posting on my blog from time to time, that’s being done from their truck on a laptop in the middle of nowhere. He put together a special rig that allows them to run any number of electronic devices on the road (well, maybe not everything).
I’m really envious of these two. They get up in the morning with only their own personal goals in mind. They wander around remote areas of the country that most of us generally see only in pictures or movies. And they’re realizing a dream they’ve had together for a while.
Check out their blog and follow them across the country.

Think you can beat a bot?
Author: Jim
Poki is one of the bots game theory researchers have been working on. It’s pretty challenging heads-up but definitely beatable. If nothing else, it’s useful to practice.
Find it here.

3-1 in HULA.
Author: Jim
I played my fourth match in HULA last night and it was almost over before it started - lasting just about 10 minutes. My opponent is a very good player (and a long time respected 2+2 poster) but the deck was just smoking hot for him. I think I won 2 pots of any consequence. All my efforts to try to change momentum were railroaded. All in all, an ugly match. (more…)

A lil’ limit.
Author: Jim
I played in a well-run 10-20 limit game last night. I wish it was spread closer to where I live so I could visit the game more regularly. But driving an hour from work and another to get home is a bit of a bummer. The Atlanta area needs more limit games. (more…)

Steady as she goes!
Author: Jim
This was a pretty uneventfull weekend poker-wise. I spent most of the time oscillating +/-300 and I think I finished the weekend down maybe 150 including online play. Sometimes it just goes that way.
I had a million pocket pairs and only spiked 3 sets off them. One of those I was paid really well for the money invested. Another I got my money out to exctly make the odds. And the other I soft-played Wade in a moment of generosity only making back maybe 4-1.
I can’t recall a single big pot I won all weekend and spent a good amount on draws that never panned out. The 5-10 game also never did get going this weekend. It’s better than dropping a couple dimes I suppose, but the feeling of running in place has never been my cup of tea.
