Back in Atlanta.

I got back in town last night. Daria scooped me up at the airport and we grabbed a late dinner at the Cuban place around the corner from my house. The place has great pork and black beans, but the empanadas were very pedestrian. (more…)

I’m swinging like a mofo out here now.
Day before yesterday, I was sitting at the world greatest seat at the Wynn 15-30 with an extremely aggressive player two seats to my right and the text book definition of a calling station immediately to my right in a full table. I ended up cashing for 2600 (+2100) to put me up for the trip by two racks (1000).
Yesterday I went on a complete bender and set fire to 3 racks in about two hours with a great cold deck. I then put the finishing touches on the crappy run by dropping another 2 racks playing shorthanded while other players got run over by the deck.
There were a couple of hands over the past two days that I thought were interesting. (more…)
Stuck 2 racks.

Had a rather ho-hum day yesterday poker-wise. I mostly played well though I was getting a lot of junk hands or mediocre premium hands like AJo. Managed to chip off 2 racks despite having made a decent comeback playing heads-up at the 15-30. The action in general here at the Wynn I’m finding pretty lacking now. I may have to log my 6 hours for the room and then seek greener pastures.
When the pro gets up, it’s time to leave.

Arrived in Las Vegas yesterday and met up with most of the crew from Atlanta. It was Mank’s birthday, so those of us that happened to be at Bally’s took him to the steakhouse there and treated him to some fine dry-aged beef. Good times were had by all, though a couple of us had already been up over 24 hours so were teetering a bit!
I had an ok first day at the Wynn 15-30 and made a decent recovery from being stuck two racks to only being down a single red chip. The table was good early on but after around 2am, the table was tough. Most pots were played heads-up and for three bets pre-flop. Not exactly what one flies across the country for. I ended up sitting till 4am though. Inertia sets in as it gets late and most every poker player can tell you how easy it is to just keep on truckin.
However, when I get back and one of the well known pros and a very strong player has gotten up, even though he’d been waiting for the seat for an hour, it’s time to go.
