It’s all gravy from here.
Author: Jim
I weighed in on Saturday for the next leg and tipped a just a wee bit over 176. Not bad and 2 weeks ahead of schedule.
In light of my new bet with Steve, I’m going to spend the remaining two weeks eatting a little smaller and leaner. The goal is to make small gains but lean down a little bit. I’m definitely not fat. Any one of the people who either laugh or look at me like I should just drop dead when I show them my “fat roll” can attest to that! But I need to give my body a break from the eatting. It’s still not something I really enjoy and I still have that fat phobia.
So, in essense, I’m going to try to coast eatting-wise into the 17th. If I get any marginal gains, awesome. But my purpose is to start resting a little getting ready for the next big push to 191 (15 lbs from my weigh-in). This rest will include a week or two where I do nothing in the gym what-so-ever, but I won’t do that phase until after the 17th.
I haven’t heard from Rick in a while and how he’s doing. He had a tough hurdle to get past with holidays and travelling. I won’t begrudge winning money, but I’m hoping he’s still on track. That’s the point of the exercise in my mind - two pals motivating each other to get their act together.

The next leg.
Author: Jim
Sweet, I found another player for the weight game! Steve Kovach (no URL available, yet) has signed up to challenge me on the next leg.
Official weigh-ins are on the way, but Steve guestimates he’s around 295 and we know I’m somewhere around 175. The wager is that he has to lose 30lbs and I have to gain 15lbs (healthy weight) to put us somewhere around 265 and 190 respectively.
Since we agreed his losing 30 lbs from where he’s at is easier than me gaining 15 lbs of healthy weight where I’m at, he’s laying me 1.5-1 money. Here’s the wager:
For every 10 pounds of his goal he doesn’t clear, he owes me $300. For every 5 pounds of my goal I don’t clear, I owe him $200. E.g., If his final weight is 267 and my final weight is 188, he’s in for $100 to me (assuming starting weights of 295 and 175 respectively).
The time line for this wager is longer than my current wager with Rick with a May 28th dead-line. Giving us both time to take a reasonable course - about 5 months.
I’m already planning out what I’ll need to do. I’ve weighed 185 before, but 190 will be heavier than I’ve ever been. And I’ll be taking a short break in January (about a week) to give my body a rest before I start on a new routine. The first 20 lbs came easier than I expected. Well, “easier”, not including I gave myself an entire life-style change. I’m not sure where this next 15 will take me.
Good luck Steve! Look forward to hearing the updates to keep me motivated!

Almost there…
Author: Jim
I was a little worried about going into the gym this morning. Saturday I started with standing deadlifts which really taxed my lower back. Sunday I spent resting with a heat pad trying to speed my recovery and went to bed at 10pm. After waking at 12:30am and 3:30am, I popped out of bed at 6:09am back still a little stiff. I ended up putting in a pretty good workout though I ditched ideas of adding another exercise for back (today was back and biceps).
I also weighted in at 174.5, actually a little more - almost 175. People have started to notice my gains too. Friday was pretty flattering when several co-workers mentioned noticing. This after losing some weight between Thurs and Sat - which I think was mostly due to lack of sleep.
Workouts left:
- Back: 2, maybe 3
- Chest: 3, maybe 4
- Legs: 3
I’ve already started asking around about people who want to race me for another 20. So far, no takers. Not sure why, going from 176 to 196 would be much tougher than 156->176. And I think I would put the time constraint to 4 months because of that.

MTV’s banned safe-sex commercial.

Um, yeah. I don’t see how it made it on the network to begin with, but damn is it funny.
Pretty safe for work, sorta.

Oldest celebrity you’d have sex with.
Author: Jim
This question came up last night talking with some friends. Everyone has a childhood crush that, no matter how old they get, you can still see the original beauty that inspired. So, that’s the question. Who’s the oldest celebrity that you’d still roll in the hay with?
Me? Easy slam dunk: Jane Seymour. I got dibs. You fools pick your own fantasy.
